Labtronix Inc. has designed and constructed several morpholino oligomer synthesizers for Gene Tools, LLC. The company synthesizes custom morpholino oligomers for research purposes. Each research synthesizer is capable of producing up to 48 different sequences of 24 base length oligomers per 22-hour run.
Another version of the synthesizer uses either a single 1- or 2-inch column for large scale production of one customer-specified sequence; it additionally has effluent selection capability for recycling of the bases and solvents.
The Food Science Department of a mid-western university needed bench-top cheese vats for research purposes. We worked with them to design and construct four vats. The 20-liter stainless steel, insulated vats are accurately temperature controlled via a computer program and stirred with a variable speed controller.
In collaboration with Oregon State University, Labtronix Inc. was part of a multidisciplinary team that designed and produced a fish cell (chromatophores) sensor for the rapid and long term detection of toxins. Several patents are under patent office review for this project. Possible applications include drug discovery research as well as monitoring for toxins in the environment, food, and water supplies.
